Art Deco Tea Set - Silver Plated - 1930's/1940's
This silver-plated tea set in Art Deco catches the eye with its round and flat shapes.
The original design of this tea set was by the hand of Christian Fjerdingstad, a Danish designer who made it for Christofle of France. The tea set was found on board of the ship SS Normandie, an oceanliner sailing between Le Havre and New York. These were the heydays of Art Deco, so the tea service drew a lot of attention. Because of this reason, a lot of replicas were made in the 1930's and 1940's, of which this set is a good example.
The set is in fairly good shape. The plating on one side of the tea pot has worn, as can be seen in the last picture.
Unmarked.
