Antique Silver Plated Cutlery set in Empire style - 49 pieces - likely René Coutin, France 1878-1880
This antique cutlery is produced in the Empire style. The cutlery is richly decorated. The acanthus leaves on the underside and back are laid out in such a way that they seem similar to butterflies at first glance. A striking pattern that stands out.
Consisting of:
- 12 dinner spoons
- 11 dinner forks
- 12 dessert spoons
- 12 escargot / apperative forks
Serving cutlery:
- Ladle
- Serving spoon
The parts are marked with R - C under a globe or balloon. This master mark can probably be traced back to René Coutin, a French silversmith who seems to have been active only in the years 1878-1880.
After about 140 years, the cutlery is still in good condition for its age, without damage and with only superficial scratches from use and oxidation.
