Silver and Blue Enamel spoon with twirled handle - .930 silver - Marius Hammer, Bergen, Norway - period 1870-1927
This antique spoon in 1st grade silver has an exceptionally long, twisted handle. The back of the spoon bowl is richly inlaid with blue enamel under a pattern of fine silver lacework. Inlaid on the outside with a border of white, teardrop-shaped enamel stones. Striking piece of high quality. The stem is quite thin and has become somewhat deformed over the years. At the tip of the spoon one eye is missing its white stone (see photos).
