Christofle - Antique silver-plated cutlery set - Baguette pattern (Fidelio) - 26-piece/6 pax - France, period 1860-1884
This exceptionally old set of silver plated cutlery was made in 19th century France, in the Charles Christofle factory, of Paris. A very early production of Christofle, although the model - Baguette - is still sold today (as the Fidelio collection). A striking difference are the flat edges of the soup spoons, a detail that disappeared in 20th century productions.
Consisting of:
- 6 dinner spoons
- 6 dinner forks
- 6 breakfast / lunch spoons
- 6 breakfast / lunch forks
- 2 gravy / sauce spoons
The pieces are in good condition, with some wear here and there appropriate to the age. The silver luster is still beautifully present, which does not make these signs of use bothersome.
The sauce spoons marked with [diamond in square, with a bee under scales between C-C] and [CHRISTOFLE]
Cutlery parts marked with [84 under scales between C-C] and [CHRISTOFLE]
The number 84, which can be seen on the last photo, is an indication of the year of production and not of the plating thickness.
