Christofle - Antique silver-plated cutlery set - Baguette pattern (Fidelio) - 25-piece/6 pax - France, period 1877-1899
This antique silver-plated cutlery set was made in 19th century France in the Charles Christofle factory in Paris. A very early production of Christofle, although the model - Baguette - is still sold today (as the Fidelio collection). A striking difference are the flat edges of the soup spoons, a detail that disappeared in 20th century productions.
Consisting of:
- 6 dinner spoons
- 6 dinner forks
- 6 breakfast / lunch spoons
- 6 breakfast / lunch forks
- Serving spoon
The parts are in good condition, with some wear here and there appropriate to the age. The silver luster is still beautifully present, which does not make these signs of use bothersome.
All parts are marked with [84 under Libra between the initials C-C for Charles Christofle]. This mark was in use from 1877-1899.
The serving spoon bears a (possibly) older mark, which was in use from 1860 until the First World War. [diamond in square, a bee under scales between C-C] and [CHRISTOFLE]
