A silver-plated set of cutlery, manufactured by the French "Société Française d'Alliage de Métaux", SFAM for short. It is executed in the typical Empire style, with a symmetrical pattern of laurel wreaths, festoons and lotus leaves; the neoclassical style of the Napoleonic era.
Consisting of:
- 12 dinner spoons
- 12 dinner knives
- 12 dinner spoons
- 12 dessert / coffee spoons
- Ladle
The cutlery is in excellent condition, with only slight scratches from use and oxidation of the silver. The blades of the knives are still smooth. Please view the photos for an impression. The canteen is fairly worn and lacks a hinge on the left, but can still serve well to store the cutlery.
All parts are marked on the inside with [METAL ALLIAGE BLANC] on one side, and [100GR] for the silver plating on the other. The blades of the knives are marked [SFAM Inox] for stainless steel.
This pattern of cutlery is still newly sold today by the Chambly firm, the successor company of S.F.A.M.
