Christofle - A silver plated set of cutlery - Rubans Collection - 53-piece/6-pax. including fish-cutlery - France, second half of the 20th century
A splendid silver plated set of cutlery by the French house of Christofle, from the Ruban collection. This pattern has been in the Christofle collection since 1907, and for good reason. With its decorations of bows and cross straps, the Ruban's cutlery has a playful character, while still conveying the elegant class of the style of Louis XVI.
The cutlery is suitable for 6 people and consists of a total of 53 pieces:
- 6 dinner spoons
- 6 dinner knives
- 6 dinner forks
- 6 fish knives
- 6 fish forks
- 6 lunch / breakfast spoons
- 6 lunch / breakfast knives
- 6 lunch / breakfast forks
- 5 dessert / teaspoons
The cutlery is in excellent condition, with light scratches consistent with age. The silver luster is still beautifully present.
Some of the cutlery pieces are marked with [I-O-C next to Rook] on the one hand and [O-Scales-C] above [CHRISTOFLE], the post-1983 maker's marks . The other pieces are marked with the marks from before 1983; [O-Rook-C][100] on the one hand and [O-Scales-C] above [CHRISTOFLE] on the other side. The distinction here lies purely in the dating and does not relate to the quality.
