The Nieuwpoort silver factory was one of the better-known producers of silverware in the Netherlands around the middle of the 20th century, possibly with sister-factories in other cities such as Brussels. The history of the company ended in tragedy; in 1986, almost all the precious tools of the Dutch factory were lost in a major fire following a burglary. The loss was too great, and a restart proved impossible.
