Silver Plated Art Deco Cutlery - 180-piece/12-pax. - Belgium, c. 1940's - Canteen of Walnut veneer
A particularly extensive silver-plated cutlery from the Art Deco period, hailing from the Belgium of the 1940s-1950s. The cutlery comes in its original, walnut veneer canteen, with 4 drawers and an inlay of burgundy red velvet. Besides the pieces for the first and main course, the set contains a large collection of serving cutlery, fish cutlery, as well as 2 sets of 12 knife rests, each with its own design in Art Deco style. The leather plaques on the front of the drawers show what each drawer contains. Silver plated, 100 grams standard.

The cutlery is in good, slightly used condition. The canteen is in fine condition. At the bottom of the right door, the veneer layer has become somewhat convex. However, the doors still open and close as they should.
All parts are marked on the back "100GR.", "72GR."10GR." etc. for the silver plating.
Origin: Belgium. The cutlery was purchased in the early 1950s by a Brussels family.
