Antique Swiss Music Box (Working) - Rosewood Veneer and Marquetry - Paillard Vaucher Fils, St. Croix - 1870's-1880's
A beautiful and unique antique music box, manufactured in the years 1870-1880 in St. Crois, Switzerland by Paillard Vaucher Fils. P.V.F. was a famous manufacturer of music boxes and timepieces, which later also made a name for itself with the production of gramophones.
The rectangular cabinet in rosewood. The wooden top inlaid with rectangular frames and a trophy of trumpets, music sheets and a ribbon. Ebonized interior. Original glass is present.
The lid has a sheet with 4 buttons with the 6 songs on it:

With the levers on the right, one can choose between repeat or to play a new song. The cylinder is driven by pulling the large lever back. The fine pins on this cylinder tap the teeth of the brush, and each tooth makes a unique sound. This brush consists of 41 teeth, which produces a rich and pleasant sound.
