Christofle - coll. Gallia - Silver Plated Legumiere (Serving dish) - Late Renaissance/Baroque
A rare serving dish or Legumiere by Christofle of France- coll. Gallia. Highly detailed and finely chisseled with patterns in the style of the late Renaissance. The lid is beautifully decorated with cartouches, scrolls and meanders. The handles are styled with contours of facades from the Renaissance /Baroque period. The handles decorated with faces wearing a turban and headdress of palmettes. A very special design that we have never encountered before.
The patterns show similarities with Christofle's Villeroy and Duperier collections, although these differ subtly from the decorations on this piece.
In excellent condition, with only very minor scratching from use.
Marked on the bottom with [Christofle][France][coll.Gallia][O-Rook-C]
