Argental, S.A. - Silver-Plated Canteen of Dinner cutlery - Coquille - 37-piece/12-pax. - France, first half 20th century
A beautiful silver plated set of dinner cutlery by the French silversmith Ste. Argental. From around the beginning of the 20th century until the early 1970's, Argental focused on the manufacture of cutlery in silver and silver-plated metal. This cutlery set in canteen has a beautiful pattern with Coquille, a shell motif that harks back to the Baroque style. The set is suitable for 12 people, consisting of;
- 12 dinner spoons
- 12 dinner forks
- 12 coffee spoons
- Large soup spoon
The cutlery is in very good condition, with minor signs of wear. View the photos for an impression.
All pieces marked in the spoon trays and under the tines of the forks with [Ste. - Halberd - A][84gr] for Ste. Argental - 84 grams silver plating.
In 1968 the silversmith was taken over by Ercuis, although Argental was marketed as a brand name until at least 1974.
