Orfevrerie J.Brille, Paris - Silver plated Louis XV Cutlery Canteen 49-piece/12-pax. - c. 1920
A beautiful silver plated cutlery canteen in the style of Louis XV. The cutlery was made by the Orfevre J.Brille in Paris in the period from about 1920 to the beginning of the 2nd World War. The violin-shaped pieces beautifully decorated with scrollwork, curly acanthus leaves and shell motifs. These decorations are very finely executed, so that the quality of the cutlery speaks for itself at first glance.
Consisting of:
- 12 dinner spoons
- 12 dinner knives
- 12 dinner forks
- 12 dessert/coffee spoons
The cutlery is in excellent condition. The blades of the knives are discolored here and there, which can probably be remedied by grinding or polishing. The rest of the pieces in excellent condition.
All pieces are marked [J-Lyre-B][Orbrille] for Orfevrerie J.Brille. This silversmith was already active in 1875 at 59 rue Fontaine-au-Roi and 12 rue Debelleyme in Paris. The company remained active until about the middle of the 20th century.
