An antique Belgian silver ladle, made by the silversmith Louis François Dethier in Mons, Belgium circa 1825.
Louis Dethier (1775-1825) was active as a silversmith in Mons between 1798-1825. It is likely that this ladle was made in the years before his passing, but only offered to an assay office after 1831.
Marked [Janus for Belgian .800 silver 1831-1868][L-D under Calipers][Minerva]. Engraving "L.R." at the backside of the stem.
