Christofle - Atlas - Silver-plated Art Deco cutlery Canteen - 172-piece/12-pax. - Luc Lanel for the Steamship S.S. Normandy - France, 1933
Exceptionally extensive silver-plated Christofle cutlery set of 172 pieces in the famous “Atlas” model. Atlas was specially designed by Luc Lanel in 1933 for the first-class dining rooms of the iconic steamship “S.S. Normandy". The dining rooms on this ship would become one of the most famous examples of interior design from the Art Deco period. The cutlery comes in its original wooden case and is suitable for 12 table guests.

The pieces are in excellent condition, with only slight micro scratches. The original canteens are functional and in good condition on the inside. The outside of the large canteen shows wear and the drawers are a bit stiff.
All pieces marked on the inside of the spoon trays, and under the tines of the forks with the Christofle hallmarks:
[O-Scales-C] over [CHRISTOFLE] and [O-Chesspiece-C] for Orfevrerie Christofle.
