Beautiful pair of Regency style candlesticks in Old Sheffield Plate. Round base with decor of leaves, fluted column and guilloche engraved candle wax holders. In excellent condition without wear. On one of the bobeches the bronze "bleeds" slightly through the silver.
Great Britain, 1820-1830.
These candlesticks are made by fusing plates of silver and bronze together, and then shaping them to the final design. This process was introduced in the 1740's and remained common until about 1840.
