Striking silver-plated Art Deco cutlery set for 12 table guests, by the Parisian Orfevrerie Boulenger. This cutlery set dates from the Art Deco period; between 1920 and 1940. The cutlery pieces - with style-typical decoration - are a real eye-catcher on the table. The knives with octagonally-shaped handles, and a crescent moon on the blade. The forks and spoons with geometric ornaments.

The cutlery is in excellent condition. The luster of the silver has been beautifully preserved.
All pieces marked under the tines of the forks and in the spoon bowls with [Boulenger][Blanc-Star]. The blade of the knife bears the company's logo; an upward-turned crescent moon.
In the 19th century and at the turn of the century, Boulenger was one of the most prominent silversmiths in Paris. The company was founded in 1810 by M. Boulenger-Hautin, and was Orfevrerie Hautin i nthe first decades of its existance. When cousin Adolphe Boulenger took over the management in 1864, the name changed to A. Boulenger & Cie. From their branch at 4 rue de Vert-Bois in Paris, the company became a respected silversmith, and over time Boulenger became a regular supplier to the French navy. Her work was awarded several times at fairs and exhibitions, including in Paris 1925, Cairo in 1929, and Antwerp in 1930.
